Glass Globe Wall Sconce

The Glass Globe Wall Sconce from Dune & Ash puts a single opal glass globe on a slim metal arm, so the light sits off the wall rather than flat against it. It is the shape that suits a bedside, a hallway or either side of a mirror without announcing itself.

The globe is opal rather than clear, which matters more than it sounds. Clear glass shows the bulb and throws a hard glare into the room; opal diffuses it so the whole sphere lights evenly and you can look straight at it from a bed. The backplate is a plain disc with no visible fixings once it is up, and the arm holds the globe forward far enough to light a page without casting your own shadow across it. Two finishes are available.

It is a hard wired fitting, so plan on an electrician unless you have an existing wall point. Switch the power off at the board before cleaning, wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth, and let the bulb cool before changing it.
