LED Mushroom Table Lamp

The LED Mushroom Table Lamp from Dune & Ash takes the spotted red and white cap of an amanita and turns it into a small lamp, so a shelf or a bedside gets a piece of character rather than another plain cylinder. It is the sort of thing that reads as an ornament in daylight and as a light after dark.

The cap is moulded in a translucent material, so the whole dome glows evenly rather than showing a bright spot where the LED sits, and the spots stay visible when it is lit rather than washing out. The light is warm and low output, which makes it usable as a night light in a child's room or a soft accent on a bookshelf. The stem and base are weighted low so it does not tip when it is knocked, and there are no exposed bulbs or hot surfaces. Two size options are available.

It runs on a rechargeable battery and charges over USB, so it can go on a shelf with no socket behind it and move between rooms freely. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth and avoid solvent cleaners, which mark the moulded surface. Charge it before the battery runs completely flat rather than after.
