River Resin Charcuterie Board

The River Resin Charcuterie Board from Dune & Ash runs a poured resin river down the centre of an acacia slab, splitting the timber into two banks. It is the kind of board that gets brought to the table rather than left in a cupboard, which is the point of buying one at all.

Acacia takes a knife mark better than a soft timber and its grain varies board to board, so each one comes out differently. The resin is poured, cured and sanded flush with the wood on both faces, then finished so the transition cannot be felt. The translucency gives the river depth under a light rather than reading as a flat stripe of colour. The slab is thick enough to carry loaded without flexing, and the edges are eased so it is comfortable to pick up with one hand.

It works as a cheese and charcuterie board, a bread board, a fruit platter or simply as a piece left out on a bench. Hand wash it in warm water and dry it straight away rather than leaving it wet, and keep it out of the dishwasher, which will lift resin from timber. Re-oil the wood every couple of months with food safe mineral oil. Serve on it rather than chopping heavily so the resin stays sound.
