Stained Glass Book Lamp

The Stained Glass Book Lamp from Dune & Ash opens like a book and folds through a full circle, so the same piece can sit on a shelf as a closed object or open out into a ring of coloured light. It is a lamp people pick up and turn over, which is unusual for a lamp.

Each page is a panel of cut coloured glass set in metal, so the light coming through carries the colour properly rather than looking like printed film. The spine holds the pages at whatever angle you leave them, from barely open to a full three hundred and sixty degrees, and the covers are magnetic so it snaps shut and stays closed when it is put away. The LEDs are warm and low output, so it works as a night light, a shelf accent or a gift for a reader.

It runs on a rechargeable battery and charges over USB, so it needs no socket and travels between rooms easily. Wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth and skip household cleaner, which can creep under the came and dull the solder. Fold it closed for storage rather than leaving it open, and charge it before the battery runs completely flat.
